Grief Counselling
After a suicide loss, LGBTQ+ individuals may face grief alongside unique pressures, including stigma, isolation, family conflict, discrimination, or the loss of an important source of community and belonging. In addition to group, Edmond Yomtoob, Psy.D., offers affirming, compassionate individualized support for LGBTQ+ people navigating this deeply painful experience. His work provides a welcoming space where clients can speak openly, be respected for who they are, and process their grief without judgment.
As a Chicago psychologist, trainer and mental health/suicide prevention advocate with more than 30 years of experience, Edmond takes a personalized, collaborative approach to care. He supports clients as they work through sorrow, anger, guilt, confusion, unanswered questions, and the many ways suicide loss can affect identity, relationships, and daily life. His approach draws on cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy, and self-psychology while honoring each client’s values, identity, culture, and lived experience.
Healing after suicide loss is not about forgetting the person who died or minimizing the complexity of your grief. With affirming guidance from Edmond, LGBTQ+ clients can find support, strengthen coping skills, rebuild connection, and explore meaningful ways to carry their loss while moving toward resilience and hope. In-person and virtual sessions are available for those ready to take a compassionate first step.
